Why it was let go

I bought this in a second-hand shop in Daryaganj with somebody else's boarding pass still tucked inside it — Frankfurt to Delhi, 2009. I have wondered about that person for years.

It is a novel about a man who cannot stop moving, who spends the whole book buying tickets to nowhere. Keeping it on a shelf felt like the wrong ending for it.

If you are holding it: read it, underline the line that gets you, sign the back, and give it to someone else. Please do not send it back to me. Send it onwards.

— Ravi, who released it in March 2025

    Daryaganj Sunday book market

Put it back roughly where I found it, on the third table from the corner, cover up so the plate is the first thing anyone sees.

02 Dubai United Arab Emirates 19 March 2025 · picked up by Meera

    Gate B14, four hours early

    The book in Dubai

Somebody left this on the seat beside me and I assumed it was rubbish until I noticed the plate inside the cover. Read forty pages before boarding and then could not stop thinking about it over the Arabian Sea. Leaving it in the seat pocket of 34B.

Left for whoever came next Do not read the last chapter on a plane. I mean it.
  3. 3,800 km 75 days later

    03 Belgrade Serbia 2 June 2025 · picked up

    Hostel shelf, Dorćol

    The book in Belgrade

My English is not very good so I read it slow, maybe three weeks. I think this is the correct speed for this book. I have underlined page 96. Sorry for writing in it.

Left for whoever came next Going to Trieste on Thursday. It comes with me.
  4. 531 km 87 days later

04 Trieste Italy 28 August 2025 · sighted by Luca

    Windowsill, Caffè San Marco

    The book in Trieste

Did not take it — only saw it and wanted the map to know it was here. Someone had left it face down next to an empty glass. I put it face up.

  5. 2,031 km 136 days later

05 Lisbon Portugal 11 January 2026 · picked up by Ana

    Night bus to Porto

Missed my stop entirely. Sat in the station until six in the morning finishing it. Whoever underlined page 96 was right.

Left for whoever came next It has crossed a continent. Do not let it stop in your bag. Mine nearly did.
  6. 1,642 km 178 days later

06 Dublin Ireland 8 July 2026 · picked up by Fiachra

    Bookshelf, The Long Hall

    The book in Dublin

A Portuguese woman handed it to me in a hostel kitchen and explained the whole thing in about nine words. Took me a month to get round to it. Worth the wait.

Left for whoever came next Heading to Reykjavík in two weeks. I will take it if nobody else claims it first.

The next stop hasn't happened yet.
