Why it was let go

A friend pressed this on me in a bar and refused to take it back. It is barely a novel — more a series of very sharp paragraphs that do not obviously connect until suddenly they do.

I have read it four times. That feels like enough for one person.

Perfect train book — you can start it anywhere. Read a third of it and passed it to the woman opposite me, who was going considerably further than I was.

Carried in a rucksack from Amsterdam by someone who never checked it in, then handed to me at a barbecue. It has come a very long way to end up on a beach.

Left for whoever came next Somebody take this further than I did.
